A personal reading-tracker web app that visualizes a "to be read" list as a virtual bookshelf, pulling data from GoodReads.
01The problem
GoodReads' own interface makes it hard to get a clean, visual sense of an existing to-be-read list — there's no simple "bookshelf" view of what's queued up next.
02What we built
A lightweight web app that syncs with a GoodReads account and renders the to-be-read list as a visual virtual bookshelf, with sorting and filtering options. It was built as a personal project and gift.
03What it became
The web app grew into TBR Shelf, a native app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac with the same shelf at its heart, plus iCloud sync, widgets, reading stats, and a built-in EPUB reader.
Turns a plain list into something genuinely useful and pleasant to browse — a working example of a small, complete, end-to-end app build.
